NewsAmy Winehouse calls off North American tourAmy Winehouse has postponed her tour of North America until early next year, it was announced today (August 21). The singer has recently been in and out of the hospital, and cancelled a slew of dates in August. She has now officially called off her September tour of the US and Canada as well. "Due to the rigors involved in touring, Amy Winehouse has been advised to postpone her upcoming September U.S. and Canadian tour dates," Winehouse's publicist Tracy Miller said in a statement. "Amy's European and U.K. tour dates in October and November remain in place. Plans are being made to reschedule her U.S. tour for early 2008. Until then, Amy has been ordered to rest and is working with medical professionals to address her health." Winehouse was slated to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas on September 9, but her appearance there is looking unlikely. George Michael fined for Wembley encore George Michael has been slapped with a ?130,000 fine because his performance at Wembley Stadium on June 9 this year overran. According to a spokesperson for the venue, Michael's set ended 13 minutes later than the agreed end time. Wembley's rules outline that a ?10,000 fine is charged for each overrunning minute, hence the ?130,000 charge. Michael was the first musician to perform at the new stadium, which has since hosted the likes of Muse, the Princess Diana tribute concert and the London leg of Live Earth. The Wembley spokesperson said: "Wembley can issue fines for concerts that overrun, but that's between Wembley and the concert promoters." |
